The more you run,
the less we add.

Find your interchange-plus markup by monthly card volume. Your per-transaction fee is quoted from your statement.

Interchange and network fees pass through separately. These bands show what Crane adds, not your total processing rate.

What’s in an interchange-plus rate

Your underlying card costs are interchange plus network fees. Crane adds a separate markup. Switch the types of cards below to see what changes.

Debit runs cheap, so the card cost stays small. Crane’s slice is the same either way.

Interchange Paid to the bank that issued the card. Varies with the card and how the transaction is processed. Passes through
Network fees Set and published by the card networks. None of it goes to Crane. Passes through
Crane’s markup Your volume sets our percentage band. We quote the per-transaction fee separately. 0.15% – 0.60%

Illustration, not to scale, and not a quote. Interchange and assessments pass through as billed by the issuer and the networks. The per-item component of the Crane markup is quoted from your statement.

When interchange-plus costs less, and when it doesn’t

These are the things that pull a statement toward IC+ or away from it.

Pulls toward IC+

Debit-heavy card mixA bundled rate charges the same on the cheapest transactions you run.
Higher tickets, B2B or commercial cardsThe underlying cost is where the money is, so seeing it matters.
Steady monthly volumeVolume picks the band, and a stable month keeps you in it.

Pulls away

Very low tickets or very high countsThe per-item component starts to outweigh the percentage.
Mostly online, keyed or stored-cardCard-not-present cost and risk are a separate review.
You want one number every monthIC+ moves with the cards your customers hand you.

Your statement decides, and sometimes the Simple Rate comes out cheaper.

Interchange-plus questions

Is interchange-plus always cheaper than a flat rate?

No. We compare the complete monthly cost on your statement. The types of cards, average sale, transaction count, and current fees all matter.

Why is only the markup published, not a full rate?

Your total includes interchange, network fees, and our percentage and per-transaction markup. The bands show our percentage; your statement lets us quote the complete cost.

Do low-ticket businesses qualify?

Sometimes, but the per-transaction component matters more when the ticket is small or the count is high. Those statements get a transaction-level review before we recommend IC+.

Can online and keyed transactions use the same quote?

Not automatically. Card-not-present activity carries a different cost and risk profile, so it gets its own statement-derived review.

Start with page one; we’ll ask for fee-detail pages if needed. Savings vary with volume, card mix, transaction profile, and current processor.
