Credit card processing for food trucks

For trucks and trailers that serve lunch stops, breweries, festivals, and private events, where the line moves fast, tips come through the window, and the WiFi is rarely yours.

What a truck needs that a counter doesn’t

A rush is a long line of small tickets, so the per-transaction fee matters as much as the rate
You park somewhere different most days, so checkout can’t depend on one spot’s WiFi
Tips at the window have to be set up on the terminal before the first service
Next-day funding on approved accounts, so a weekend event’s sales don’t sit for days

Setups that work from a truck window

Most trucks run on a portable terminal. A phone covers a slow day or a second seller, and a full POS is there if you want one.

Choosing a connection for a food truck

WiFi only. Only worth it if you serve from the same spot, on a network you can count on.
WiFi + 4G LTE. A cellular data line on the Move 5000, and the default for a truck that moves. Event WiFi is often crowded or absent.
Your phone’s own data. The app runs on the signal you already pay for. No terminal to carry.
Full-day battery. The Move 5000 is built for full-day portable use, from the first order to the last.

Food truck questions

What happens if I lose signal at an event?

Plan the connection before you park. The Move 5000 runs on WiFi or, with a cellular data line, on 4G LTE, so a crowded event network doesn’t have to be your only option. The Elavon Mobile app runs on your phone’s own cellular data. Tell us the events you work and we’ll recommend the connection.

Can customers add a tip at the window?

Yes. The Move 5000 handles checkout and tips, and we configure the tip prompt around the terminal or POS you select. The exact workflow is confirmed during setup.

Do I need a separate POS for my menu?

Not to take cards. A Move 5000 or the Elavon Mobile app takes payments without one. If you want menu and tip management, a kitchen printer, and a cash drawer, Elavon POS (talech) is an optional full restaurant POS, quoted to your setup.

How fast do I get paid after a weekend event?

Next-day funding is available on approved accounts. We confirm your batch cutoff and funding timing, including how weekends and bank holidays are handled.

Opening a truck, or switching processors?

Tell us where you park, the events you work, and how busy the window gets. Card-present processing starts at 2.19% + 9¢, and higher-volume businesses can qualify for a lower rate. We prepare the application with you, and signing it is your call once you’ve read it through.
